Hi, I'm

Nola

,

I'd be happiest with

short walks, ball play, and cuddles

This beautiful girl is Nola, an 11 year old golden who came to us when her former owner decided it was too inconvenient to care for her. For the past 2 years Nola has had to urinate every couple hours, and since the owner worked long hours she just left her outside. In many ways Nola was a neglected dog. She came to us very thin (46 lbs), horribly infected ears, sores on her back from flea bites, teeth with roots exposed causing pain, and stiffness in her joints. And even with all of those things going on, she is the happiest and sweetest girl!

Since in rescue our wonderful vet has given her a new lease on life! After blood tests, urinalysis, ultrasound, and a dental procedure she’s doing great. We learned that the frequent urination was caused by a bladder infection that has persisted for a very long time and caused significant inflammation. After a course of antibiotics, that inflammation and the infection are gone and she is urinating normally now. She will need supplements and anti inflammatories for her hips and arthritis in her back, but overall she is a healthy girl.

Nola loves rolling around in the grass, chasing after a ball, and hanging out with her people. She adores the foster’s 5 year old grandson, too. She is living with 2 other goldens and gets along with them. She doesn’t love puppy energy though, and may bark, but another mellow dog would be just fine. Nola has learned the dog door at her foster home, and takes herself out to potty when she needs to go. She would do best with regular short walks to make sure to keep her joints healthy.
