Hi, I'm

Sammy

,

I'd be happiest with

Adventures, playtime and lots of love

Sammy came to us two years ago from Turkey at the ripe old age of one! He was adopted to a couple and lived with them for two years until they expanded their family and had no time to give Sammy all he needed and deserved so he finds himself back in rescue.

Sammy is a beautiful, cream golden retriever with so many of the traits golden’s are famous for.  He is gentle, quiet, calm, and has those undeniably cute golden puppy eyes.

He is housebroken and does his potty in the back yard or on his walks.   When the leash comes out he gets excited and will grab the leash to try to walk himself. A quick, “stop” and he will let it go.  Sammy loves his walks, and initially is excited to get to everywhere as quickly as possible so he does pull some. However, he will settle down as the walk goes on and walks nicely.

Sammy does not harm furniture or items in the home and he does not counter surf.  He does not get onto the furniture, but would love to sleep next to you on the bed if you would let him. If not, he will settle fine on the floor or a dog bed.

He is in a foster home with two energetic, young, male dogs. A golden and a Samoyed.  He is extremely friendly and sweet with other dogs, but over the last 2 years he has not had a lot of practice playing. His foster siblings are showing him the way and Sammy genuinely enjoys playing with other dogs. Sammy has lived with cats and does not chase them and coexists just fine.

Sammy loves a soft toy to carry around, or a bone to chew on. He enjoys bully sticks, knuckle bones and treats. He is great in a car and lays down until you get to your destination.  In Turkey, he used to swim in the rescuers therapy pool, and his foster home has a pool that he has pretty much ignored. However, we think he’d like trips to the beach.

Sammy is quiet, rarely barks, but does make happy noise while playing or enticing the dogs to play which is typical of some dogs.

We think he would like an active home. Walking, maybe hiking, trips to the beach, camping, being outdoors.  A pool would be a bonus, but not a must as long as he is getting to the water.  Another confident dog that will continue all he has learned about play would be great for him, but again, not a must if he is getting out and about and has the chance to play with your friend’s dogs.
