Are you looking to share an incredible love and all your personal space? Hero has a PhD in cuddling and is looking for a home.
Hero and Hera (another Rover’s Pup looking for a home) were found trying to cross a busy road by one of our rescuers and her boyfriend. This couple is now engaged — so, can Hero help you find the love of your life? We can’t promise anything, but…
This speckled cutie loves love. Dedicated to the fine art of cuddling, Hero always has at least one paw on his people. His cuddle of choice is the full court press (which is what he calls lying on top of people even when they need to pee). Speaking of sports terms, Hero is a fetch fanatic. If you’re looking for a reason to get outside and throw the ball around, Hero is the ideal teammate.
We asked Hero to list his top three favorite things, and he said, “Everyone, everything, and food.” We took that answer even though it doesn’t technically make sense because it just works for this boy.
Hero takes being food motivated to the next level. A roll of salami is just as exciting as dry kibble. And despite his snack obsession, he takes treats so gently. Even when given a slice of Christmas ham, Hero takes it like it’s a fragile rose on a frosty morning.
Speaking of his gentle nature, Hero is very aware of his size. He walks beautifully on a leash — no pulling! When excited, he does bunny hops but even as he jumps up and down, he doesn’t jump on people. He is what an elementary school teacher would call “a pleasure to have in class.”
Besides being a Hungry, Hungry Hippo, Hero is also a Happy, Happy Hippo. Everything is a reason to party for this adorable lug. Hippo is always dancing to the beat of his own drum (which is also the beat of his 24/7 wagging tail hitting the wall). Everything brings Hero joy and he passes it along to his people. You can’t help but smile as Hero takes the world on with a limitless joy that doesn’t match his past.
When found, Hero was microchipped, but his family didn’t want him. They were simply tired of having a dog. But Hero wouldn’t let that inform his worldview. Every second of his life is a reason to celebrate being alive for this handsome fellow. And you can’t help give him something extra to celebrate by adopting him, bringing him to your home, and welcoming him into your (personal) space.
Hero is currently in Chatsworth, California but can be fostered anywhere in SoCal and adopted anywhere as long as you can come to SoCal and drive home.
