2 years old
This adorable little guy is Maxwell (affectionately known as Max). Fortunately, one of our volunteers was at the Carson shelter when Max was brought in as a stray and she was able to get him safely into rescue. Max, a mini doodle, came into rescue with a badly matted coat and with raging ear infections. He now has a spiffy new haircut, and his ears are on the mend. And, he is ready to find his forever family!
Max is about 2 years old. He is a happy boy…loves going on walks, loves playing with toys, and loves attention from his humans. Max is a bit insecure and hasn’t had much training or structure in his life. He bonds quickly and strongly to his human, but his insecurity causes him to act out (ex. whine, get mouthy) if he doesn’t get the attention he is seeking. Because of this, he needs his humans to set boundaries and be consistent with his training and daily exercise. His foster family has been working with a dog trainer for guidance and taking Max to classes, and they have learned how to help Max gain confidence through providing the structure he needs.
Max does fine with other dogs and is living with 3 other dogs at his foster home. However, he is more interested in human attention. He doesn’t play with the other dogs and would do best as an only dog where he doesn’t have to compete for attention. He is doing well with his potty training, but will need positive reinforcement in that area.
We are looking for an adopter who understands that Max is not a ‘turn key’ dog and it will take time, patience, training, and consistency for him to gain confidence and become a perfect companion. In turn, you will get the most adorable and cuddly boy to call your own!
