Meet Chewy, a tall handsome shepherd/lab mix. He weighs about 75 lbs, but is very lean and in shape. He is still young at heart and is learning how to be a dog. He isn't very experienced in the ways of being a dog, but he wants to be a good boy. He is good on leash and likes to go for long walks. He is good with other dogs once he's introduced correctly. He is learning that he needs to have manners when meeting new dogs and some training would definitely benefit him. He sometimes gets a little too excited and plays a little rough, so he needs to learn when to be calmer and when to play. He gets along well with his foster brothers and loves to wrestle with them. Cats are very interesting to him and he wants to chase them, so a home without cats would be best. He is also a very tall boy, so a home without younger kids would be ideal, although he gets along with kids just fine.
His life started as a stray and he ended up in a shelter before Rover's Retreat rescued him. He is still learning he doesn’t need to protect his toys and food from other dogs, but he's learning quickly and responds very well to corrections. Chewy loves to be with his people and he is a fan of having his booty and his belly rubbed. He's a little "mouthy" but he is learning quickly and only gets that way when he gets excited, like when you get home.
He is potty trained and knows how to use the doggie door. Chewy would do best in a home with someone who has experience with dogs and understands dog behavior. This way he will blossom into the amazing dog he was mean to be. Chewy will be your best friend, guardian, and all around good boy as long as he's in the right environment!
